The components of the WARDIP Guinea project.

Favorable environment for the creation of a continental digital single market

This component aims to establish a legal, regulatory and institutional framework conducive to the creation of a single digital market in West Africa. This includes the harmonization of digital policies between member countries, promoting competition and private sector investment, while ensuring more equitable access to broadband.

Development and integration of the digital connectivity market.

Strengthening regulatory, legal and institutional capacities of the telecommunications sector.

  • This sub-component supports the modernization of legal and regulatory frameworks to improve the competitiveness of the telecommunications market in Guinea. This includes supporting authorities to design and implement policies that facilitate access to broadband, taking into account issues of gender equity and accessibility for people with disabilities.
  • Technical assistance to strengthen institutional coordination in the digital economy, with the creation of the National Digitalization Council (NDC).

Deployment of a second landing station for a submarine cable.


  • This activity provides for the deployment of the necessary infrastructure for a second landing station for the submarine cable, to improve the resilience of internet services and reduce Guinea's dependence on a single submarine cable..
  • This deployment also aims to strengthen Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) to reduce latency and connectivity costs.

Development and integration of the data market.


This component focuses on creating robust cybersecurity infrastructure to ensure data protection and trust in digital transactions across the region.  


Creation of security infrastructures (SOC, CSIRT): Establishment of security operations centers (SOC) and computer security incident response teams (CSIRT) to strengthen the security of digital systems and protect data citizens and businesses.


Cybersecurity Capacity Building: Training and technical assistance to government agencies to prevent and manage cyberattacks, as well as to develop regulatory frameworks aligned with international best practices.

Development of the online market

 

Development of digital skills: Training and support for young people, women and people with disabilities to improve their skills in the digital field.

  
Adoption of digital financial services: Strengthening the regulatory framework and developing a digital payments ecosystem to facilitate regional economic integration through secure and accessible financial services. 
 

Promotion of digital innovation: Encouragement of the creation of startups, support for digital innovation ecosystems, and establishment of a regulatory framework for digital entrepreneurship.

 

This component aims to stimulate the growth of the digital economy in Guinea, by promoting innovation, electronic commerce and the development of digital financial services.
